— PURPOSE —
“One of the deep secrets of life is that all that is really worth the doing is what we do for others.”
We love meringue. Like, really love meringue, and we don't think there is enough of it around these parts. But more than anything, we love providing children in-need with what every child should have—Food. Education. Medical Care. Safety.
Josephine was started to create a way to support children and teens in need at any time we celebrate or come together. Our family is made up of a southern girl (Julie), an Englishman (Dan), a beautiful Haitian boy, and three lovely California girls. We chose the name Josephine because it intersects several special people and places in our life and it just feels right. Our hope is that by taking on this new challenge, we can inspire our children, and hopefully others, to find their own unique way to do some good in the world.
We have supported children in Haiti through our non-profit Pou Timoun, and in the U.S. through No Kid Hungry/Share Our Strength. After a decade of hosting fundraising events for projects to help vulnerable children, we wanted to create a new way for people to easily support these causes while celebrating a major life event or just having a good time together—thus, the concept for Josephine was born. Profits from sales of our bakery business, as well as money raised from specific fundraising campaigns, will be donated to these two charitable organizations.*
Josephine’s pastry team is led by head Chef Heather Wong (of Scootabaker, Bottega Louie, Sweetsalt & Cascabel). Our team creates desserts for special occasions of any size. We strive to create desserts that have a modern sensibility combined with respect for the classics, and are as beautiful as they are delectable.
We hope you'll support our business so we can help care for children in-need together!
P.S. We do a lot more than meringue, but you're going to find lots of it here.
*all after-tax profits of Josephine bakery products, less profits invested back into the business, will be donated.
